So, I was standing in our foyer, when someone mentioned vacation. This led me to realize that I completely forgot to finish my vacation posts. Maybe I can be forgiven – we got home close to 7:30 and I was tired, and then I kept forgetting to write. 🙂
Day 10:
God did something for us today. Guys, there was no way it could be a coincidence. But, I’m going to save that for last because it came at the end of the day. 🙂
July 4th was a driving day, because we needed to get home by Sunday, but we also got to stop by Mount Rushmore. It felt very patriotic. Everyone was wearing patriotic shirts and The stage the President was on was still set up. It was really cool. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Teddy Rosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln were carved with detail. It was so great!
We also stopped at Wall-Drug. It was interesting, and not what I expected. It reminds me of a bunch of stores squished together, or like a mall that was supposed to be a small amusement park, only with no rides. A lot of the extra things there were closed.
The God-thing that happened was that we got to see fireworks. We weren’t sure where we were going to stay the night, because we were a little behind on driving. We were having a hard time finding a hotel, and had just planned that we were not going to get to see fireworks. The hotel dad was finally able to get for us to stay in not only had fireworks, the fireworks were in the back yard of the hotel, right above our heads
This bomber flew overhead as we were driving to Mount Rushmore. The stage the President was on was still set up. From left to right: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Teddy Rosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. This is near the entrance. In case you want to know why these President’s were chosen. Some cool views on the way to Mount Rushmore. The fireworks we saw were so cool, and right overhead!
Day 11:
We had stayed in South Dakota again last night (South Dakota is long!) and so we just drove home, through Minnesota and Wisconsin. We didn’t do anything, really, except drive straight home (well, we did stop for bathroom and food), so I don’t have any pictures to share for today. We were all so exhausted when we got home!
