Today’s review is for a fun series entitled The Quest for Truth series, written by Brock Eastman. There are 5 books in the series and they are titled Taken, Risk, Unleash, Tangle and Hope. It is an action-packed series that I don’t have much to say about.
The story centers around a group of siblings – Oliver (17) Tiffany (15) and then Mason and Austin (11) and their quest to find and rescue their parents.
The author did a good job of developing the relationships between the siblings. At first, they fought and had a hard time listening to each other, but as time went on, they really became a team and learned to apologize to each other.
My only content comment is that when two characters have a crush on each other, they decided not to tell their parents (who do find out. Nothing bad happens – it’s very clean and well done).
These books were very fun and full of energy. Occasionally it felt like the author was writing for a younger age group and like some plot points were forced, but I still enjoyed these books. They were entertaining and I really liked the way he wrote the siblings relationship – it was more realistic than the way a lot of books write them. I also liked that their parents were archeologists – my mom used to be one, so it made the series more delightful.
All in all, these books were fun, easy reads. The author is a Christian and includes Christian elements in the story, including as the bases for the plot, which I appreciate.
