Today was known as ‘sleep in day,’ meaning we had to be up by 8:00am instead of 7:00am. The girls in my room got up at 7:45am to have ample time to get ready for breakfast. Breakfast consisted of cereal, hard-boiled eggs, bagels, cream cheese, and peanut butter. After eating we did our devotions, after devotions, we did circle up. This time we gathered into groups of four or five and played the human knot game.
After circle up, we went to our work sites. My group was at the same place we were yesterday, and we added a second coat of paint to the floor, painted the room that was being sanded, swept, mopped, cleaned, and just continued getting the building ready for the open house on Thursday.
Something cool happened during lunch – we were joking around and a mailman happened to pull up to deliver mail across the street, and one of the girls made a joke about giving the mailman food. Someone else then suggested we pray for the mailman, so we all ran out to pray with him. It turned out he was a pastor. That was a cool God thing. 🙂
After the service day, we came back, showered, ate dinner, and went to the youth group of a local church. It was pretty neat. There were only about 10 kids. We got there, filed inside and took seats. Then the pastor gave an introduction, we sang worship and did prayer requests, then the pastor gave a message. It was called “The Feet of Jesus,” and was about the work Jesus did and His love for us.
We got back to the host church around 8:30pm, got our Bibles and did our regular time of worship. Tonight we also drew pictures of things that God sometimes asks us to sacrifice. After worship, we went to ‘sorted-by-church-group’ groups, whereupon we promptly split into smaller groups of about seven and discussed the day, what we thought of the other church’s youth group, and what God has been teaching us.
After that we went to bed – lights out at 11:00.
Youth Works does this thing called Logan Letters where we write notes of encouragement to other people in our group. It’s kind of neat.
Prayer Request Alert: I woke up this morning feeling rather sick, and that has persisted throughout the day. I would appreciate it if you could pray that I am able to push through and that I feel better.
